Wedding Plaza hotel Wewstport

Aimee and Ben were recently married in Party Mayo followed by a reception in The Plaza Hotel Westport Mayo.
I've known Aimee and her family for years, her dad Padraig in particular is a very close friend of mine so it put that small bit of additional pressure on you not to let them down on their wedding day with regards to the photography side of things.
The weather Gods certainly didn't favour us, but it didn't prevent Aimee and Ben from squeezing everything they possibly could out of a fantastic and memorable day.
Aimee was ably assisted by her sister Katie and friend Jen who were brilliant bridesmaids and extremely helpful on the wedding morning.
Ben is from Wales and I enjoyed a lot of the ceremony that was spoken in Welsh....such a beautiful language to listen to....even though you couldn't understand the words, it sounded so soft on the ear.
We made the short Jouney to the Boat Inn immediately after the ceremony....one of Aimee's first duties as a wife was to pour a pint of the black stuff for her new husband!
With the weather being so horrific, we headed back to the Knockranny House Hotel which boasts lovely views of Croagh Patrick to grab some photos and have a small snack before heading back to the Plaza Hotel.
Well done to groomsmen Reece and Rodreyt who did a fantastic presentation and job of the speeches....I was in stitches at their performance, excellent stuff lads!
Final the brilliant Jive Buddies finished off the night and the photos show that they had the dance floor hoppin'!!
Thanks Aimee and Ben for being super people to be around on your wedding day. I wish yopu both the very best and I look forward to crossing paths again in the future!
Images from the day are below and a photo slideshow can be viewed at the bottom of the page.

Wedding Roundstone Co Galway followed by reception in The Castlecourt Westport Co Mayo

I first met Brid at the end of last year when she was searching for her wedding photographer....and out chat lasted a bit longer than expected. Brid's called to my studio and we had a nice chat about her special day and explained that she liked photos...... as long as she's not in them! We had a chat about her day and what it might entail and Brid left the studio with an idea of my work and how I approach weddings and she headed off to have a chat with her fiancee John...although she didn't get too far as her jeep wouldn't start after! We called a friend mechanic of mine who came out for a look and discovered a loose connection with the battery...problem solved.
I was delighted when Brid called me a few days to book my services and I found her very easy to talk to....witty and relaxed! She called by a week later with a gifts to my family for helping her with the car....and even called to the mechanic with a bottle of whiskey to say "thank you"..... a class lady in my opinion!
I was delighted that she also get one of the sunniest and hottest days of the year!

A very relaxed Brid!

We headed off to Roundstone beach after the ceremony and grabbed a handful of shots before heading back to Roundstone to join friends and family for a quick pint....and then off to The Castlecourt Hotel Cifden.

As I've mentioned before regarding the image above....I try and keep things progressing promptly and smoothly on wedding days and try and keep fuss to an absolute minimum. We didn't spend too long taking image on Roundstone beach and conscious of the beautiful scenery that we were surrounded by on our way to Westport (Inagh Valley in particular), I literally stopped all the wedding traffic (and tourists) that were traveling behind us in order to get this shot....my apologies to all concerned!

Killary harbor behind us....next stop USA!

I really enjoy covering weddings in The Castlecourt Hotel.....Vinny and his staff are always in top form and provide a wedding service that's very difficult to match.

The night was topped off with lively music from the brilliant Raindance who kept the dance floor full all night!

Thanks Brid and John for letting me play a part in your wedding day....you were a great couple and I thoroughly enjoyed your company!
