Wedding Lisloughrey Lodge Cong Co Mayo

Wedding Cornamona Co Galway and Reception Lisloughrey Lodge, Co Mayo

05th November 2012
I was lucky enough to be covering Fiona and David's Cornamona wedding ( a majesctic part of Galway.....though I would be slightly biased as just like david, I also married a Cornamona woman!!) followed by a reception in the nearby Lisloughrey Lodge Hotel in Cong Co Mayo.

Cornamona is such a beautiful place.....both in relation to it's landscape as well as the close knit and genuine community that make it. After meeting Fiona and David a couple of weeks before their wedding day, a blind man could see how relaxed and genuine they were and I knew it was going to be another enjoyable day at work!

Fiona's parents Mick and Sarah were in great spirits on the morning of the wedding as were bridesmaids Barbara and Lorraine, and it was a pleasure to call and record their preparations. Fiona was such an elegant bride....relaxed with great awareness and didn't seem in any way phased by the day that was in it.

I made the brief journey to Cornamona Church capturing the arrival of David along with his groomsmen Barry and Dennis. It's also a good opportunity to record some details about how the church looks on the day of the wedding as a lot of the detail is lost on those who are involved in the day!

It was also great to meet up with Videographer Tom McGuire....a local man whom I've known for quite some time and he was a pleasure to work with.

Fiona was extremely punctual and indeed caught a few of us out with her prompt arrival....David was delighted though, no undue stress!

The weather wasn't the best after the ceremony with heavy showers and a nice strong breeze blowing.

We had planned on taking some photos in Cong while en route to Lisloughrey Lodge and that plan didn't seem viable when we arrived in Cong....but as if Moses was present, after 5 mins (and a quick cigarette for some of the bridal party) the clouds parted and we were able to proceed with matters;....as I always say, good things happen to good people!

Lisloughrey Lodge is a beautiful Hotel with a majestic setting on the shores of Lough Corrib. There are fantastic opportunities for Bridal portraits all round and indeed, even if the weather is working with you, the hotel offers plenty of photographic opportunities. On top of these fantastic resources, it also had so most amiable of staff in Rachel and Aoife and it's always a place i like to work....plus I live about 5 mins away by car!!

Thanks Fiona and David for letting me play a role on your special day....your a great couple and I wish you both the very best!

Wedding Park Hotel Kiltimagh Co Mayo

I had the good fortune to be working at Nicola and Noel's recent wedding in Ballyglunin Co Galway followed by a reception in the Park Hotel Kiltimagh Co Mayo

It was a joy to arrive to hooting and hollering at Nicola's home in Monivea on the morning of the wedding. I pulled up outside her home and was running off a few shots outside when I heard the mayhem coming from within....and thankfully it was joyous mayhem!

It was great being in Nicola's home the morning of the wedding to witness at first hand the joyous occasion that was about to happen.
I also met up with Ana Conlon of Video Productions and she was a treat to work along side....thanks Ana!

After my time in Nicola's home, I headed of to Brooklodge Church to meet Noel and his army

Young Niall was the first to walk up the aisle....and as I've mentioned before, it can be quite a daunting thing for any child to do. He started off well, didn't think much of it until he briefly looked up and realized he was on his tod! He received some words of encouragement from those at the rear of the church and finally braved the journey on his own....well done Niall!

Noel's last few moments as a single man are spent pensively while Nicola has a chat with everyone that catches her eye on her journey up the aisle!

As we were heading to Kiltimagh via Milltown, we stopped off in Milltown Park and got some photos among the beatiful grounds there. I have to thank bridesmaids Gillian, Trisha and Sharon as well as groomsmen Brendan, Declan and Tommy.....they were in flying form really enjoying their roles on the day!

Wedding Downhill House Hotel Ballina Co Mayo

I bumped into Olivia and Kieran at a wedding I was covering yesterday.....and it dawned on me that I never posted images of their special day....apologies and time to rectify that!

The lights had been turned off when we went back into the church after all guests had shook hands with the newlyweds after the ceremony and made their way to The Downhill House Hotel for the reception.....we still managed to grab some shots of the beautiful bride Olivia.

After our shots in the church, we headed to Lough Talt which is a majestic spot only a couple of miles from the church

The two dads Oliver and John have a chinwag about the days events!

The Downhill House Hotel offers beautiful gardens for Bridal and Family Portraits.

Congratulations Olivia and Kieran, it was good to meet up with you again yesterday!

Wedding Ballinrobe Co Mayo and Castlecourt Hotel Westport

Trish's preparations took place in her home (Ballinrobe Co Mayo) which was only a minutes walk from the Church. Her two bridesmaids Martina and Paula as well as her mum Julie were there to lend the helping hands and all were pretty excited about the day ahead of them.....no nerves on display at all!

I never saw a hanger with the name on it before....pretty cool!

After capturing Trish's preparations, I headed over to the church where Dean was waiting with his best man Chris and groomsman Shane......the lads were in great spirits and a pleasure to be around.

The lads got rid of any nervous energy they had before Trisha and her bridesmaids arrived for the service.

This is a "moment" that I like a lot. I headed up to the Balcony of Ballinrobe Church during the part of the ceremony where the priests invites everyone to "offer each other the sign of peace". Trish and Dean mingle with family and friends and shake hands.....Dean extended his hand for the "shake" but his dad pulls him in close for a nice big big....pretty cool!

Chris offers a congratulating hug at the end of the ceremony

The fact the Dean is from America, I had been looking forward to bringing the Bridal Party to Cong after the ceremony to get some lovely portraits in a beautiful location.....images that show off Ireland and it's beautiful countryside. Unfortunately, the weather didn't allow this but we manages to get some shots taken in the Castlecourt.

Dean's father John gives his son some advice during the speeches!

Trish and Dean as well as their families and Bridal Party were great people to be around on their wedding day. I'm conscious that I say this quite a lot when speaking about weddings, but it's true.....it's great when your dealing with a couple who have the awareness of what's happening on their special day and truly enjoy it!

It was great working with you lads and I hope we cross paths again in the future!
