This wedding was an extremely enjoyable one for me.....great to work
alongside super wedding suppliers as well as a bride and groom who were
out of the top drawer for co-operating with me for their wedding
photography!
I covered Norah's sister's wedding last year (Mary) so it was great to call to her home again and know who each person was.
Always a pleasure to bump into Malvina Barrett,
who was looking after Norah and Co's make up....Malvina is brilliant,
always has the girls ready in plenty of time and has a bubbly and jovial
personality which adds to the laid back atmosphere that was present in
Norah's home.
The above selection of shots is Norah's dad Seán seeing his daughter in
her wedding dress for the first time. I must admit that I'm always in
two minds whether to stay and capture these imtimate shots of dad &
daughter, or whether to leave them alone and let them have their moment
alone for fear that I'm intruding....in hindsight I'm happy that I was
unnoticed (i hope) and these photos will be around for generations to
come.
After Norah's preparations, I made the very short journey to the church
to capture Edward's arrival along with groomsmen Paul, Gregory &
Seán.
I loved the attire that Edward and a couple of his groomsmen were wearing (Eddie being in the army).
The exceptional Nicola McGuire
provided the music (accompanied by Dave Mongan) for the ceremony, and
she's simply awesome. When you look up the word "professional" in the
oxford dictionary, there should be a photo of her there! Always pulls
performances from the top drawer and always brilliant at communicating
with those around her on wedding days!
The defence forces performed a lovely ritual that I never witnessed
before for the blessing of the sacrament during the wedding
ceremony...beautiful to watch and done with great symmetry and
precision!
After the ceremony, we availed of the heat in the church to take some
bridal photos before taking our chances down at the Claddagh/Spanish
Arch area afterwards. It's great to get a few photos in the bank before
we leave the church in case we get some bad weather out of nowhere!
I was very grateful to not only Norah and Eddie for their patience on
wedding day, but indeed all of the bridal party, and Chief bridesmaid
Mary in particular. This wedding took place on December 29th, amid very
cold (but luckily dry) conditions. As it was almost dusk when we arrived
at the Claddagh, we had beautiful soft light and it was perfect for
photography, with the exception of it being exceptionally cold, and this
is where I'm grateful to all of the bridal party, not once was the cold
weather mentioned and they were just in great spirits and wonderful
people to be around, so thank you Norah, Eddie, Mary, Claire and
Francis, as well as Paul Gregory and Seán!
We even took a stroll up Quay St to absorb the lovely festive atmosphere.
Back to the heat of Hotel Meyrick after our Quay St stroll. The Meyrick
is a beautiful hotel that has an abundance of indoor photo opportunities
and we availed of a few of them while listening to the fabulous music
of Class Act Promotions...a
brilliant 3 piece acoustic band that had everyone toe tapping prior to
the meal. What's great about this band is that they're acoustic which
means they're mobile in the hotel and can shift around from group to
group entertaining guests while at the same time not being loud!
The function room in the Meyrick is a beautiful room for photography,
well lit with plenty of chandeliers and lovely mirrored walls....and a
balcony to get some good view points!
I was caught on the hop during the speeches, there was a brilliant
singalong by Eddie Norah and a few of their mates that was beautiful to
both watch and listen too.
Kif were the excellent band that had
the dance floor hopping for the remainder of the night. I come across
them regularly and they're excellent at "reading the dance floor" and
knowing what works at weddings. The photos tell no lies with them (full
dance floor) and they consistently perform brilliantly!
Finally, thank you once again Norah and Edward for being super to work
with. I really enjoyed your day and feel we have a lot of good memories
in the bag!
I look forward to crossing paths again, and until then, here's a photo slideshow of the big day!
