Wedding Castlecourt Hotel Westport

Catriona and Kevin were married on a wet and windy day last November, but it was an exceptionally enjoyable day for me!
I know Catriona and her family for almost 20 years......Catriona being my wife's first cousin, so to say it was very relaxing calling to Catriona's home on the morning of the wedding would be an understatement....indeed I made myself at home and gobbled down the sausages and rashers like anyone else that was there! It was almost difficult to get my head around what I needed to shoot while I was there as there were so many familiar faces around, and I found myself having chats with everyone....including my good friend John Murphy of Avalon Video who co-incidentally also worked with me when we covered Catriona's sister Niamh and Dermot's wedding a few years ago. Thanks to Evelyn and Stephen as well as Aine, Niamh and Siobhán for their warm welcome!
So feeling 10 stone heavier and full to the gills, I made my way to Partry Church to meet up with Kevin and his merry men consisting of Jonathan, Stephen and Shane. Travelling to Partry from Tourmakeady was an easy journey for me but for others I'm afraid it was a lot more difficult getting to the church as the road from Ballinrobe to Partry was closed that morning.
After the ceremony, we availed of the shelter of the church to take some portraits before chancing our luck by driving into Drumbán House in Tourmakeady to see if the weather would improve. We were welcomed with a pretty heavy shower so we used a sheltered area to run off some shots before grabbing what we could outside in between the showers. Fair play to Catriona and Kevin for their assistance (and willingness) to hang around for a few moments in Drumbán in between the showers....great to be around people who are truly relaxed on their big day and nothing is an inconvenience to them......thanks lads!
Everyone was hydrating well while we were waiting for the showers to move on so I think the short break suited us all well!
The Catlecourt as I've often mentioned is a place that I love working.....I think Vinny and his staff there are very focused on suiting the Bride and Grooms requirements on wedding days and I always sense that they work "with" you there as opposed to pulling "against" you....great spot!
Usually John Murphy and I sit outside in the restaurant for a snack while the meal is taking place at weddings, but I had the lovely treat of sitting next to my wife for the meal as we were also guests for the big day.
After the meal, Wavelength took to the stage and had the floor "hopping"....the photos tell no lies!
Thanks so much Catriona and Kevin for being who ye were on your wedding day.....great people to be around! Looking forward to seeing you both soon and I wish the three of ye the very best.....see ye soon!
